The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program will be impacted by changes to Ontario Regulation 422/17 (General) proposed by the Ministry of Labor, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (OINP).
The suggested changes would bring the OINP into line with the new National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 system, which is already in use as the official classification system by Statistics Canada (StatCan) and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). Additionally, NOC 2021 will be put into effect by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in November.
The Ministry is recommending updates to the language requirements for the Employer Job Offer Foreign Worker stream, the educational requirements for the Employer Job Offer International Student stream, as well as adjustments to the minimum amount for the OINP’s administrative monetary penalties, in addition to regulatory changes to align with NOC 2021.
