There has been a reduction in the backlog for Express Entry. More than 45,000 Express Entry applications awaited results in April, down from almost 52,000 in March.
The drop in Express Entry applications prompted Immigration Minister Sean Fraser to announce that all-program drawings will begin in July, and processing delays for most new candidates will return to six months. Since December 2020, invitation rounds for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) have been temporarily stopped. Since September 2021, there hasn’t been a draw for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. The major way IRCC welcomes skilled immigrants is through Express Entry.
