2022 Start-Up Visa Canada Requirements
Canada’s 2022 Start-Up Visa program is aimed at immigrant entrepreneurs with skills and talents who are looking to build a business in Canada. These entrepreneurs seeking the Canadian startup visa program must possess the skills and potential to create a business in Canada that is:
- innovative
- creates jobs for Canadians
- competes on a global scale
In addition, applicants to the 2022 Start-Up Business program must meet these eligibility requirements:
- Have a qualifying business
- Obtain a Commitment of Certificate or Letter of Support from a designated organization
- Have a sufficient, available, and transferable settlement
- Meet the language requirements

2022 Start-Up Visa Canada Application Process (Startup Visa Guide)
Step 1: Create A Business Plan (1-2 months)
Applying to the 2022 Start-Up Visa in Canada requires an innovative business idea. All applicants must have a qualified Business Plan that shows how their products or services will make a positive impact in Canada, and how their company is likely to succeed both nationally and globally.
Step 2: Acquire Letter Of Support (1-3 months)
you must convince the organization that you have a business idea that is worth supporting and apply for a Letter of Support from one or more 2022 Start-Up Visa Canada designated entities.
The letter must meet the following criteria:
- A designated angel investor group must confirm that it is investing at least $75,000 CAD into the qualifying business, or two or more commitments from designated angel investor groups totalling $75,000 CAD, or;
- A designated venture capital fund must confirm that it is investing at least $200,000 CAD into the qualifying business or two or more commitments from designated venture capital funds totaling $200,000 CAD, or;
- A designated business incubator must confirm that it is accepting the applicant into its business incubator Program.
Step 3: Permanent Resident Application (12-16 months)
This is the final stage of your application, where you apply for your Permanent Residency. You will need to submit the following documents:
- Resume (CV) of the candidate
- Letter of Support from a designated entity in Canada
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate (if married)
- Copy of Passport or Legal Travel Document
- Police Clearance Record from your country of origin and residence
- A recent Bank Statement covering at least six months
- Bank Reference Letter
- Language Test Results (IELTS CLB Level 5 or NCLC Level 5)
- Medical Examination from a certified health institution
All documents must be legally translated to English or French and notarized from the corresponding country. The immigration office may request additional documents if needed.
