A<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">ccording to IRCC, these people must apply before their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicvisa.com\/en\/oinp-ontario-employer-job-offer-stream\/\">work visa<\/a> expires and take action by May 20, 2023.<\/span><\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">To qualify for the streamlined procedure, you must:<\/span>\n<ol>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">living in Canada<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Access your secure IRCC account to\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Make sure your mailing address is current. <\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Verify that your passport&#8217;s expiration date is June 2025 or later, and that you have chosen to extend it for up to an extra 18 months. <\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Before May 20, 2023, if you don&#8217;t already have one, you must create an IRCC Secure Account and attach your most recent PGWP application to it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n&nbsp;\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Regarding this renewal of the Open Work Permit<\/span><\/h2>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicvisa.com\/en\/start-up-visa-program\/\">Canadian Immigration<\/a> Minister Sean Fraser said in March that IRCC would make a new Open Work Permit available to qualified previous and present PGWP holders. <\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A PGWP is often non-renewable, thus individuals who have one that is about to expire must either find another method to stay in Canada or depart completely. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Fraser clarified that the goal of this unique public policy is to assist Canadian firms in addressing their historical labour shortages and to provide PGWP holders additional time to potentially make the transition to permanent residence. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">PGWPs enable qualified foreign graduates to continue working for up to three years after finishing their education in Canada. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The overall duration of a PGWP is determined by how long the international graduate&#8217;s programme was when they graduated.<\/span><\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">PGWPs are well-liked because they let foreign graduates improve their qualifications for Canadian permanent residence. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Since Statistics Canada data demonstrates that having Canadian work experience supports labour market integration after obtaining permanent residency, many of Canada&#8217;s economic class immigration programmes reward applicants who have it. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This explains why programmes like Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and other economic class pathways provide applicants with Canadian experience extra points and\/or special streams.<\/span><\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In the previous academic year, Canada welcomed an all-time high of 800,000 foreign students.
