Express Entry Draws – Which Categories Have the Most Job Vacancies?

Exciting news! Immigration Minister Sean Fraser just revealed the targeted categories for the upcoming category-based Express Entry draws starting this summer.
 Category-based draws will occur alongside general and program-specific draws.
 In general draws, the highest-ranking candidates receive invites for permanent residence, while program-specific draws are limited to top-ranking candidates by program.
 The new category-based draws will invite candidates with high French proficiency or work experience in the following areas:
 Healthcare
 STEM Professions
 Trades (e.g., carpenters, plumbers)
 Transport
 Agriculture and Agri-food
⚡️ Why were these categories chosen?
They aim to fill job vacancies across Canada and address the labor shortage. The selection process involved consultations with provinces, territories, industry members, unions, and more.
 Healthcare:
In Q4 2022, there were 143,695 job vacancies, with Ontario and Quebec having the most opportunities.
 STEM Professions:
The sector had 56,915 vacancies, with Ontario leading the way.
 Trades:
Wholesale and retail trades combined had over 139,000 vacancies, with Ontario and Quebec having the highest numbers.
 Transport:
With 43,700 vacancies, this sector offers great opportunities in provinces like Ontario and British Columbia.
 Agriculture and Agri-food:
In Q4 2022, there were 10,535 vacancies, making it an attractive option in provinces like Ontario and British Columbia.
