According to a recent Statistics Canada report, the Atlantic Immigration Program’s success can be attributed to the high immigrant retention rates in Atlantic Canada (AIP).
Governments, employers, communities, and settlement agencies collaborate to hire qualified workers and foreign graduates under the AIP, which was introduced in 2017 as a trial initiative. Immigration recipients who work with settlement service providers get greater assistance in settling and integrating than they may if they enter Canada via a different immigration procedure.
The study found that the AIP had better retention rates for immigrants a year after admission than Provincial Nominee Programs, which were funded in part by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (PNPs). The results revealed that immigrant retention rates in the Atlantic provinces significantly increased over the first three years of the AIP. In contrast, retention rates have decreased in other provinces.
