Exciting news for Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) candidates! Starting April 22, 2025, the Manitoba government will offer eligible applicants a special work permit renewal — allowing them to stay and work in Canada legally while awaiting immigration approval. This policy will be available until December 31, 2025.
Who’s Eligible?
To qualify, applicants must meet ALL the following criteria:
✅ Currently hold a work permit expiring within 45 days OR whose work permit expired in 2024 or 2025.
✅ Continuously lived in Manitoba since before January 15, 2025.
✅ Held a valid Expression of Interest (EOI) profile on January 15, 2025 (still valid today).
✅ Have a valid job offer from a Manitoba employer.
✅ Meet IRCC’s temporary public policy standards, including:
Having held a Canadian work permit for at least 12 months in the past five years.
Currently living in Canada.
Not having submitted a PR application or applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP).
⚠️ Important: If you have already received a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) from MPNP, you are NOT eligible for this special renewal.
How to Apply?
Starting April 22, eligible candidates must apply online via Manitoba’s official portal for a Support Letter. You will need:
Your valid EOI profile,
A job offer letter from your employer,
A copy of your current or previous work permit OR proof of status restoration if your permit expired.
Note: While Manitoba is offering this support, the number of support letters issued may be limited — eligibility does not guarantee approval!
Why This New Policy Matters
Until now, Canada’s immigration system only offered Bridging Open Work Permits (BOWP) to candidates who already submitted their PR application. This temporary special policy helps close the gap for many PNP candidates stuck between stages — ensuring they can legally work and stay in Canada while contributing to Manitoba’s economy.
