The Pearson Test of English has now been approved by IRCC for use in Canadian immigration applications.
The Pearson Test of English (PTE) will be one of three designated language tests that economic class candidates will be able to complete to demonstrate their English language proficiency to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada beginning in “late 2023,” along with CELPIP and IELTS General Training (IRCC).
The new PTE Essential English language exam was developed by Pearson to satisfy the IRCC’s requirements for language competency for Canadian immigration applicants. International students typically need to take the “Academic” version of a language competence test since IRCC has various language requirements for applicants for study permits.
