The wait is over! On 2025 年 7 月 16 日, IRCC confirmed that the 2025 Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) will launch on July 28, issuing up to 17,860 invitations to sponsors who filed an Expression of Interest (EOI) back in 2020. The goal: secure 10,000 completed sponsorship applications within two weeks.
Who Can Expect an Invitation?
Canadian citizens and permanent residents who submitted an EOI in 2020.
Invited sponsors will receive an email and can then log into IRCC’s system to submit a full sponsorship package.
Those not selected can still reunite via the 超級簽證—valid for 10 years, allowing multiple five-year stays.
How the Parent & Grandparent Sponsorship Works
Lottery-Based Invites: EOIs from 2020 are randomly selected.
Two-Week Window: IRCC will issue all invitations by mid-August.
No New EOIs: The 2025 round is exclusive to 2020 registrants.
Super Visa: An Alternative Path
No Lottery: Apply anytime for a Super Visa.
Long–Term Visits: Stay up to five years per entry, visa valid for 10 years.
Ideal Backup: Perfect for families who miss the PGP invite or need quicker entry.
Preparation Is Key
Monitor Your Email: Check your inbox (and spam folder) from July 28 to August 11 for your invitation.
Gather Your Documents: Have income proof, sponsorship forms, and supporting letters ready.
Act Quickly: As soon as you’re invited, submit your complete application through your IRCC portal.
Plan for Alternatives: If you don’t receive an invite, start your Super Visa application to avoid gaps.
Altec Global Tip
If you filed your EOI in 2020, begin organizing your financial and personal documents now—speed and accuracy will secure your spot. If you’re not invited, the Super Visa is an excellent fallback, letting you support and stay close to your loved ones without the sponsorship lottery’s uncertainty.
