Ontario’s population could increase by as much as six million over the next two decades

Over the next two decades, the population of Ontario might rise by as much as six million, and some experts are advising governments to start “playing catch up” on developing the necessary infrastructure to handle that influx before it’s too late.
According to updated estimates provided by Statistics Canada this week, the population of Ontario will increase from 14.8 million to roughly 19 million by 2043 in a scenario of medium growth, and it could potentially surpass 21 million in a scenario of greater growth.
