Although not officially in effect yet, IRCC will update its website shortly to confirm that this test will be recognized for immigration language assessment.

Anyone applying for Canadian PR through federal economic immigration programs (such as 快速入境) will be able to choose TOEFL Essentials as proof of language proficiency.
This means that future overseas applicants will have more options beyond the traditional tests such as IELTS, CELPIP, or PTE.
